DESCRIPTION:Apply here\n \nApplication deadline: 4 October 2026 \nRE-Think – Mindset for Sustainability” is an action-oriented micro-credential designed to foster a sustainability-oriented mindset among master’s students and equip them with the competencies required to address complex sustainability challenges in both professional and societal contexts. \nGrounded in the RE-Think framework- Reconsider\, Eliminate\, Transform\, Huge Opportunities\, Include\, Nurture\, and Keep – the programme provides participants with conceptual and practical tools to critically examine existing habits\, systems\, and decision-making processes through the principles of sustainability. \nThe micro-credential encourages learners to identify opportunities for innovation\, adopt systems thinking\, engage with diverse stakeholders\, cultivate sustainable behaviours\, and promote resource efficiency and circularity. By integrating these perspectives\, participants will develop the capacity to design and implement more sustainable solutions across a range of contexts. \nThrough an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented learning approach\, RE-Think supports the development of critical thinking\, responsible leadership\, and transformative competencies that are increasingly essential for advancing sustainable development in a rapidly changing world. \nDetails\nCourse Content \nModule 1: Reconsider – Addressing Current Sustainability Challenges \n\nThe Triple Bottom Line\nCircular Economy\nGreen Economy\nBlue Economy\nDoughnut Economics\n\nModule 2: Eliminate – Reducing Waste and Inefficiency \n\nUnderstanding waste: materials\, energy\, and time\nElectronic waste (e-waste)\nStrategies for eliminating disposable\, non-essential\, and harmful elements\n\nModule 3: Transform – Redesigning for Sustainability \n\nInnovation for circularity\nSustainable circular business models\nReal-world examples of transformative change\n\nModule 4: Huge Opportunities – Creating Shared Value \n\nCorporate Social Responsibility\nCreating Shared Value\n\nModule 5: Include – Engaging All Stakeholders \n\nStakeholder theory\nCommunity engagement\, co-creation\, and equity in sustainability initiatives\n\nModule 6: Nurture – Building Sustainable Habits for Long-Term Impact \n\nBehaviour change\nThe role of leadership\nConsumer awareness\n\nModule 7: Keep – Closing the Loop \n\nCircular economy in practice: reuse\, repair\, recycle\, redesign\, and other circular strategies\nMaintaining value within the system through policy and innovation\n\n  \nCourse Times \nSynchronous sessions: \n13 October 2026\, 18:00–21:30 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–22:30 (CEST)20 October 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)27 October 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)03 November 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)10 November 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)17 November 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)24 November 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)01 December 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)08 December 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)15 December 2026\, 18:00–20:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–21:00 (CEST)22 December 2026\, 18:00–21:00 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–22:00 (CEST)05 January 2027\, 18:00–21:30 (Portuguese time) | 19:00–22:30 (CEST) \nTutors \nCarmina Nunes (IPS) \nStudy Programme \nCarmina Nunes (IPS) \nECTS \n5 (check “Recognition of ECTS” section for more information) \nContact Hours \n48 (28 synchronous\, 20 asynchronous) \nPrerequisites \nBachelor degree \nFurther information\n\n\n Recognition of ECTS\n \n \n \nPlease note that the recognition of the ECTS provided through this activity on your Transcript of Records depends on the decision of the responsible E³UDRES² coordinators or academic authority of your study programme at your home institution. We strongly recommend contacting them before starting an activity that awards ECTS in order to avoid any unexpected difficulties later on. \nDepending on their decision\, one of the following scenarios may apply: \n\nYour credits are recognised and can replace another course within your regular study programme.\nYour credits are recognised and can be included in the elective or free-choice space of your study programme (if applicable).\nYour credits are recognised as extra-curricular\, meaning they cannot replace another course or be included in the elective or free-choice space of your programme (if applicable).\n\nWhen contacting the responsible E³UDRES² coordinators at your home institution\, please ensure you provide all relevant information about the E³UDRES² activity so they can properly evaluate your request. \n \n \n View local E³UDRES² contacts\n \n \n\n\n Teaching Methods\n \n \n \nThe course adopts active\, student-centred learning methodologies that take into account participants’ diverse academic backgrounds and respond to their specific learning needs. \n  \nThese active learning methodologies are based on four core principles: \n\nCo-creation: the formation of collaborative teams comprising students with diverse academic and professional backgrounds;\nMultidisciplinarity: bringing together students from different higher education disciplines\, including those from IPS and other higher education institutions within the EUDRES Alliance;\nMulticulturality: the creation of culturally diverse student teams; and\nCollaborative learning and peer learning: fostering knowledge sharing\, teamwork\, and mutual learning among participants.\n\n\nProblem-Based Learning (PBL) is another key pedagogical approach adopted throughout the course. How do they reduce waste\, increase customer value\, and create a culture of continuous learning and improvement? In this elective\, you will learn the principles and tools of Lean Continuous Improvement and apply them to a real-life improvement challenge. Throughout the course\, you will work on an A3 improvement project\, enabling you to translate theory directly into practice. You will start by exploring the foundations of Lean\, including the five Lean principles and the eight wastes. Next\, you will learn how to understand customer value using tools such as the Kano Model and Net Promoter Score (NPS). The course then focuses on process analysis through Value Stream Mapping (VSM). You will learn how to map current processes\, identify waste and bottlenecks\, and prioritize improvement opportunities. Using the Kaizen methodology\, you will define problems\, investigate root causes through techniques such as the 5 Whys\, and develop effective improvement solutions. You will also gain hands-on experience with Lean concepts such as flow\, takt time\, line balancing\, pull systems\, Kanban\, 5S\, and visual performance management. Through simulations and practical exercises\, you will discover how these tools contribute to more efficient and reliable processes. In the final part of the course\, you will focus on implementation and sustaining improvements. Topics include Toyota Kata\, Hoshin Kanri\, the X-Matrix\, Obeya\, stakeholder management\, and the ACCA dialogue model\, helping you understand how improvement initiatives can be aligned with organizational strategy and successfully embedded within teams. As part of the elective\, you will also have the opportunity to earn an internationally recognized Lean Green Belt certification\, demonstrating your ability to analyze and improve processes using proven industry methodologies. By the end of the course\, you will be able to identify improvement opportunities\, analyze processes\, solve operational problems\, and implement sustainable improvements that create value for both organizations and their customers.  \nCourse Times \nWeekly meetings at 10:00-12:00 (CET) from 09 November 2026 – 29 January 2027.
