The module will develop the understanding of current international and European legislation surrounding the protection of data and of copyright laws. \nCompetencies: In line with the Digital competencies based on DigComp 2.2\, this course will contribute to the Digital Safety competency. \nOutcomes: On completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \nDescribe the principles and terms of copyright legislation; \nDefine your rights as a user or creator of Creative Commons; \nUnderstand the concepts of open source; \nChoose an appropriate license for your  work and evaluate the possibility of reusing others’ works depending on their licenses; \nUnderstand different open source tools; \nDefine the open and free movement; \nDescribe open practices. \nActivities: Different activities indicated in the course \nTime to complete the course: \nThis course is considered of 5 hours of learning activities. It develops your understanding of models of open access\, open licenses\, transparency and reproducibility\, FAIR data\, open peer review\, and tools and platforms supporting open science across disciplines. \nCompetencies:  \nIn line with the Digital Competence Framework (DigComp 2.2)\, this course contributes to Digital Content Creation and Safety competencies\, focusing on responsible sharing\, licensing\, and reproducible workflows. Additionally\, in line with the European Competence Framework for Researchers (ResearchComp)\, this course contributes to competencies such as Managing Research (promote open access publications)\,  Making an Impact (participate in the publication process)\, Managing Research Tools (manage research data) and Doing Research (apply research ethics and integrity principles). \nOutcomes: On completion of this course\, participants will be able to: \nExplain different models of open access publishing and their implications. \nNavigate the open access publishing process and identify predatory journals. \nApply open licenses for scientific papers\, data\, and code. \nImplement transparency and reproducibility practices in research workflows. \nUse FAIR principles to prepare and share data responsibly. \nEvaluate tools and repositories supporting open science. \nDraft an Open Science implementation plan and contribute to open peer review. \nActivities:  \nYou will engage with key resources and examples\, practice applying licenses\, create metadata for datasets\, evaluate journals and repositories\, contribute to peer discussions\, and complete quizzes.
